Whitney Floyd

Hi, my name is Whitney!

Whitney is from a rural town of Kirksville, Missouri, and started weekly ballet classes in kindergarten. At age twelve, she transitioned from her private school ballet classes to a professional dance studio where she furthered her dance training. In addition to ballet, she was trained in jazz, tap, musical theater, and lyrical dance. At age fourteen, she added hip-hop and started to attend dance competitions in Missouri and Iowa. Whitney competed regularly throughout high school, winning many titles. She also started teaching classes and private lessons during this time. This was when Whitney truly fell in love with dance and knew she wanted it to be her career.

Whitney furthered her school education with college-level courses. During the summers, she continued her dance education by attending Tucson Ballet Summer Intensive at the University of Arizona, and Oklahoma City University’s Broadway Bound Dance Intensive.

Whitney auditioned and was accepted into Oklahoma City University’s dance program with a talent scholarship in 2019. She graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor of Performing Arts in Dance Performance. Performing credits include American Spirit Dance Company (Director Jo Rowan); Stars Dance Company (Director Tiffany van der Merwe); Pep Dancers (Director Alana Martin) and the Spirit of Grace Liturgical Dancers (Director Kelli Stevens). She attended the OCU/NYC dance collaborative as well as the STEPS dance intensive in New York City.

Whitney made her professional dance debut with the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma performing in Mary Poppins in the summer of 2024.

Along with dance, Whitney enjoys fashion, make-up, and hair. She had the opportunity to create the “Whitney” leotard with Couture Costume Dancewear. She shows her love for this through her passion of social media, content creation, and modeling. She was selected to be an ambassador for Alani Nu Nutrition. She created content such as photos and short videos to advertise products for the company. In addition to this, she was a designated model ambassador for Clara Foster Photography. Whitney has thoroughly enjoyed each opportunity to further develop her modeling abilities and comfort in front of the camera.

In addition to these talents that complement her dance career, Whitney enjoys coking, baking and decorating cakes, a good workout, and reading.
